In addition to all of the benefits an SCECU
MasterCard can provide you, it has many security features to help protect you.
Card Features
- MasterCard Logo Hologram - this image is visible when held at a
angle. It is above the MasterCard logo on the card front.
- Signature Panel - The signature panel on the back of the card has
the words MasterCard printed in different colors
CVC2 - The Card Verification Code 2 (CVC2) can be used by merchants
to verify (through MasterCard) that the card is authentic. The CVC2 is
found on the top right of the signature panel. Example at right
Network Features
- Card Activation - The Card Activation System requires that when a
new card is issued, the primary cardholder must call in to the automated
system and input certain information about the card and/or account.
This process is designed so that only the cardholder will be able to
activate the card.
- Neural Network - MasterCard's Neural Network technology monitors the
cards for unusual spending patterns. When a card is stolen, the thief
normally will use the card extensively before it can be reported
stolen. The neural network monitors for these unusually spending
patterns. If detected, MasterCard contacts the cardholder.
